New decor for the Forge de Laguiole boutique on rue Boissy d’Anglas in Paris. 

Un magnifique rouge habille désormais la boutique Forge de Laguiole Paris, pour redécouvrir autrement les couteaux d’Aubrac.

The unique Aubrac knives manufactured by Forge de Laguiole are now displayed in a spectacular design boutique in the heart of Paris. The gallery has recently opened its doors at 29 rue Boissy d’Anglais in Paris’ eighth district. The shop highlights the fruitful collaboration of imaginative designer Christian Ghion and the colorist Jean-Gabriel Causse.

A majestic bee

Giant bee – a nod to Laguiole pocket knives

A beautiful red color now decorates the walls of the shop. This particularly warm color evokes the alchemy of metal work in the furnace of the forge. It is observed by two giant bees that adorn the walls – a nod to the famous Laguiole pocket knives. The table knives are displayed much like silverware so the visitor has time to admire the workmanship on the various knives.

The shop has a contemporary spirit, with materials and object reminiscent of the Aveyron area of France. Note the presence Nontronnaise cutlery displayed separately.

Christian Ghion, is at the forefront of design

Associated with the colorist Jean-Gabriel Causse, Christian Ghion is once again creating beautiful design for Forge de Laguiole. Only months after the creation of the Laguiole knife “Ardant” for the actress Fanny Ardant; the Laguiole “Essential” created by Christian Ghion for Forge de Laguiole won a Janus Heritage and Innovation Award. The designer is also the Artistic Director of Nontronnaise Cutlery.

“To carry the products and show our imagination and values ​​of thirty years, we needed a place that is a true ambassador for the Laguiole brand, a showcase which expresses the richness of the company,” Thierry Moysset, director of Forge de Laguiole explained. “By entrusting the renovation of the Paris store to Christian Ghion, accompanied by the colorist Jean-Gabriel Causse, we made the right choice. Genuine, real, refined and warm, the new Forge de Laguiole boutique is the perfect setting for our exceptional knives.”

The Forge de Laguiole designer knife has been created for the Soulages museum in Rodez in Aveyron.

With this wonderful Laguiole creation Bras/Soulages, Forge de Laguiole grabs the spotlight at the world famous tradeshow Maison et Object, dedicated to the art of living, decoration and design.

Laguiole Bras/Soulages, an ode to both gastronomy and the art of painting

The 2014 collection of Laguiole knives includes a wide variety of great knives made in France. The highlight of this collection is the Bras/Soulages, a knife designed by André Bras, brother of famed restaurateur Michel Bras and La Forge de Laguiole for the “Café Bras” restaurant at the Soulages Museum.

This dishwasher-friendly Laguiole knife is an ode to both gastronomy and to the art of painting. It is an exclusive knife whose shape is subtly similar to that of a paint brush.

It is distinguished by its dark dense wooden handle and offers a beautiful contrast with the light straight yatagan stainless steel blade.

Note that this Laguiole knife made by Bras and commissioned by Soulages is available as a 12 cm “pocket knife” with a handle made of black compressed paper, a stainless steel front and a black leather string.
